How to use “Apprivoisons le français”?
Topics are used to study vocabulary and grammatical structures in action. It’s a way to observe them in a context, and really understand how they work and how to use them. The first topics we’ll study are Christmas, the house/flat, and holidays in France. In addition to the conversation courses, on this site you will find articles and printables.
Some grammar articles can be a bit a bit overwhelming, I don’t think they should be learned by heart, but rather understood and used as references. When possible, I’ve added precisions: this part is good to know when you are a beginner, the rest is important if you are at an intermediate or advanced level. But even as a beginner, sometimes, it can be useful to have an idea of the whole concept.
Don’t forget to check the quizzes in those sections, it’s a good way to test yourself! You can use them before studying a lesson, to know what parts may need insisting, or after to help you evaluate if everything is understood!
In the study break category, you can find all kinds of knowledge, from cooking recipes to writers and French pop culture…
I hope you have fun while learning, because it’s the best way to keep on the good work!
Apprivoisons le français !
Apprivoisons le français can be translated as “let’s become more familiar with French”. Even if you are just starting learning French, you probably already know many words, especially if you speak English, as some vocabulary is identical or quite close. “Vocabulary” for instance, is “vocabulaire” in French.
I’m Lucie, I’m French, and I’ve been a teacher in France for ten years, with pupils from 3 to 10. After that, I’ve moved to Finland and I’ve started teaching French online, this time with teenagers and adults. I am learning Finnish now, and it helps me to understand the difficulties we meet on our learning path, when studying a new language.
